Personal Life Coaching - Coaching for Creativity

E. Lynn Marlow, Ph.D.

Lynn was educated at Duke and Virginia Commonwealth Universities, and has had her Ph.D. in psychology since 1985. She received her coaching training from MentorCoach. Lynn is licensed as a clinical psychologist in North Carolina, and has been working with and trusted by individuals at every stage of life for the past 20 years. She has the wisdom and the experience to know what makes people tick, and the patience and compassion to understand that your situation and your feelings are unique.

As a seasoned psychotherapist and coach, Lynn’s skills and intuition are exceptional, and yet continue to grow. She has, over the years, been a researcher, a consultant, a clinician, a teacher, an artist and a parent — roles that inform one another, and have brought to her work a combination of knowledge, curiosity, creativity, and intuition that is unique. She is respected by her colleagues and her community for her talent, integrity, and commitment to her work.

"My decision to become a coach has been part of my own life-changing adventure. I wanted to take all the skills and experience I had amassed, and use them in a different way. Coaching connects me with people's dreams and aspirations in a way that is inspiring to me. I love what I do."

Lynn’s philosophy values and fosters connection — with self, others, work, community, earth, and spirit. Her holistic approach to coaching acknowledges the whole person, with a deep appreciation for how the emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical all interconnect. Lynn believes that peace and happiness come from knowing yourself, feeling and expressing your emotional truth, having meaningful connections to people and activities, and moving through life with honesty, integrity, courage, and a sense of humor.

After years of being afraid to color outside the lines, Lynn has discovered the freedom and joy of her own creative energy. Marlow Glass ArtsClock w/Blue and Green Squareskilnformed glassAt midlife, she found the ability to trust her creativity and take the risk to put her dreams into action.Since then, Lynn has discovered the passion to express her creativity in many ways, including painting, gardening, political activism, writing, her work with clients, and designing websites like this one. She is most proud of her work with fused glass (see her other website, www.marlowglassarts.com), an endeavor that has taught her to trust her talent, accept imperfection, display patience, and blow her own horn.

"When I coach, I connect with my client's creative energy, letting it first reveal to them who they truly are and what they are passionate about, and then channeling it, so that they find ways to put that passion into action. My ideal client is someone with life experience, who may be successful in certain arenas, but may feel that their old ways of doing things aren't working for them any more. Coaching is particularly effective at times of transition — midlife, empty nest, divorce or retirement. When someone has the courage to examine themselves and their life, and to take the risks to create real change, coaching is exciting and inspired, almost magical in its power. I support my clients in their journey to become more creative at home, at work, in their gardens, in their communities, in their play, and in the way they move through life. In helping them to express their creativity, coaching enables them to become happier, healthier and more energized."

Lynn shares her home with her life partner, Ronna Davis, whose wisdom, courage, unfailing support and patient understanding has been her inspiration. Lynn's daughter Elise is a 22-year old college student, who, with her colorful and creative spirit, offbeat way of seeing the world, and brilliant sense of humor, is quite literally Lynn's pride and joy. Their home is filled with life - Fred the dog and four cats. Lynn and Ronna both love digging in the dirt, and chose their new home in Asheville in part because of the expanse of yard and garden.

Lynn would love to hear from you. She would be more than happy to talk with you about coaching, and about how coaching can benefit you specifically. Please e-mail her with any questions, comments, or stories that you'd like to share. You will always get a prompt, personal reply.
